Anadrol (often called "A50" or "A-bombs" by athletes) was originally developed as a compound to help people with anemia and has since been used very successfully to help people with many other conditions, Among them is caring. Therefore, it is clearly an effective agent for promoting weight gain, increasing appetite, increasing strength and increasing red blood cell count. And, like most anabolic/androgenic steroids (AAS), it has its drawbacks. Anadrol 50 suppresses the hormones your body naturally produces (testosterone, etc), can negatively affect your blood lipids, can cause water retention, is notorious for causing headaches, and is very liver toxic (in fact, it has a bad reputation ) hepatotoxicity of all steroids.

Effects of Anadrol on the Body:

In my opinion, in order to fully understand the effects of Anadrol50 on the body, we need to compare its advantages and disadvantages. Anadrol is a DHT-derived compound and is a 17-0a-alkylated steroid, which means it has been altered at the 17th carbon position to survive oral ingestion. Most oral steroids are 17aa, which helps them pass through your liver in useful form.

Anadrol side effects:

This 17aa change allows Anadrol to survive the first pass through your liver and also makes it tax your liver a lot, there was a 30 week study of Anadrol and as you would expect a reasonable number of side effects were noted The fact that Anadrol causes - -some side effects really has never been debated. But how effective is this drug? Well, first it should be mentioned that this study was done on people with AIDS related wasting who actually gained weight (8+kg) while the control group lost weight , and the death rate also increased. (1). I think if you're in a study because you have a wasting disease (also terminal) you don't want to end up in the control group. Anyway, though, the weight gain in this study peaked at 19-20 weeks, so the last 10 weeks weren't very productive in that regard. Obviously, you wouldn't use Anadrol 50 for 20 weeks, given its toxicity, but after that, any effect in terms of weight and strength gains would be negligible. So, on the Anadrol side, and the sheer fact that this study lasted for such a long time (30 weeks), it's clear they can be controlled and are safe to use as a drug. People are usually told to limit their intake of Anadrol to 4 weeks or less.

However, from personal experience, I can tell you that the benefits of Anadrol are very significant for the first 3 weeks and then level off quickly. Unfortunately, I found that Anadrol's side effects (which included headaches, bloating, increased blood pressure, and for me a general "uncomfortable" feeling) persisted throughout the duration of use. But I found that, as usual, the drug's side effects were almost half myth and half fact. Since Anadrol 50 is derived from DHT, it can't actually be converted to estrogen (via aromatase), and it's not a progestogen or a compound with progestogenic activity, so the estrogen it produces. Side effects are of a very mysterious nature. Presumably, maybe it stimulates estrogen receptors without actually converting to estrogen, and that's about as plausible an explanation as I've heard. However, things got weird when Oxymetholone was used in studies to alter the reproductive/menstrual cycle in women. In these cases, it lowered plasma progesterone levels! (7) One would think that an AI (aromatase inhibitor) would not be of much use against this drug, but many people find that letrozole (which in some cases has been shown to can reduce estrogen in the body to undetectable levels) (6) and can greatly reduce or even eliminate many of Anadrol's more obvious side effects, such as bloating.

However, as I said, the side effects of this drug are certainly no joke and are easily preventable and manageable. One study even showed that subjects using up to 100 mg of oxymetholone had few side effects. In the original UnderGround Steroid Handbook, Dan Duchaine stated that he used it in doses as high as 150mg/day. Apparently, Anadrol's liver toxicity is somewhat exaggerated in some circles. Still, my advice would be to limit the use of Anadrol to 6 weeks, if only to be cautious. Of course, I personally use this drug longer.

How should we use Anadrol ?

I would probably be willing to include Anadrol in a cycle that includes injectable steroids but not the other 17aa compounds. I start any 6 week run of this compound at the beginning of a cycle as a form of "jump start" to see gains quickly. The quick gains you will get from Anadrol (multi-pound weight gain per day for the first 2 weeks at Not uncommon among athletes) disappears just as quickly after you stop using it. Unless you're just using it as a starter while you wait for your other compounds to kick in.
